That number is always changing and we are still competing for the most! Since we left in 2019 we visited 43 (as of 2024) new places, and still have a “must visit” list of places we absolutely, positively, want to see.

But our motivation of “checking off the boxes” is not what it was, and we recognize that this is a matter of quality over quantity.

There are some places we just don’t want to visit, and many are still to be determined. But the really good thing is, after visiting almost 30 countries in the past few years, we know where we want to RETURN to, which is a great bonus. In many cases we know the transportation system, how to get from the airport, how to use the mass transit, and where in that town we may want to live. Or not.

The one thing that is pretty much sure, is that we both avoid “cold weather,” and by our standards, that means anywhere that the temperature hits freezing temps in winter. We also have no desire to visit the ultra-hot deserts of many countries, and we both agree that the Mediterranean equatorial belt and the Tropics are our sweet spots.
