Day #3, Sevilla
(And I promise the last one since we left…)
Some final thoughts about Sevilla.
This morning was relaxing as we had no particular agenda other than to find a good breakfast which we did but we also came across this large wooden structure called Metropol Parasol. For 3 E you can take an elevator to the roof and see amazing views. It’s located at La Encarnación, which is officially ground zero for the city when it was founded back in the 1200s. When you think that that is 800 years ago it can blow your mind. Anyway, on this site the original occupants, the Moors laid ground, followed by the Catholics and the Christians.
The Return trip was fairly effortless, and I love the train system in Europe. 2 1/2 hours from Sevilla to Madrid, a 1 hour layover and then about 2 more hours back to Valencia which is now in the midst of Fallas celebration system. It’s now about 8 p.m. and I expect the fireworks will be going on much of the night and we will be at work at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning with more fireworks.
Differences between Valencia and Sevilla are noteworthy. This feels like an industrial town with real people. It doesn’t seem like a tourist destination and much of the shopping district does not have that feel that way either. Sevilla truly feels like a vacation destination. As I mentioned, fashion and shoes rule!
Tomorrow is 3 weeks since we left Los Angeles and the United States it seems like much longer. Three more weeks from tomorrow we’ll exit Valencia and head to our next destination, Tivoli, Italy.
