The weather has turned here in Croatia, and from the overcast drizzly days of the past weeks, the temperature has increased about 20 degrees. Yowzah! Along with that we have seen a transition taking place over the past few weeks that is becoming more evident every day.
“Summer” is here and there is noticeably more activity. More people out on the streets (see my personal blog on the “Festival o’ Boba”- the bean festival from last week), all the many plants are flowering and putting off amazing smells, but the most exciting change is in the water.
As you’ll see in the video, the previously dark brown growth we have seen in the water is now turning a vibrant and vivid green. From rocks that were barren before now comes green growth which makes them stand out much more than before. The brown wimpy growth is now much easier on the eyes.
BUT, the best news is that the water temp- a bit too chilly before- is now much easier on our soft formerly Southern California skin which does not handle cold very well!
From our unit we can walk just a few minutes and enter the water at several different locations. The other beachgoers are getting the message, too, since there are more people out and the kids are frolicking at all the local beaches. Which, by the way, are more pebbly than soft sand, one of my few complaints.
We will be here in our location for just a few more weeks, then down to the magical town of Dubrovnik, which everyone claims is the number one spot to visit in Croatia. A motorcycle rental is in the works and we’ll share pictures of two of the major waterfall areas here: Krka Falls and Plitvice Lakes National Park, which is a chain of 16 connecting lakes joined by waterfalls.
It seems that today’s theme is “water” so go out and find yours! #water, #oceantemp
