We’ve been getting out to visit some of the attractions here in Phu Quoc—and there are many! We spent several hours in Grand World, which is like an EPCOT Center in process, as they are trying to create different country architectures and vibes within one large park. It was free to enter and we rented an electric scooter and tripped through Venice town and London town. They do have others, like Shanghai and Indochina, but many parts are mostly empty, and they seem to be in a growth phase since they opened just four years ago—and are still dealing with the pandemic aftermath. They have a massive amount of land to build upon, so, who knows what this will look like in twenty years?
Adjoining Grand World is VinWonders, which IS a Disneyland design, only less crowded (we hope), and less costly. They have what they call a world class aquarium, as well as a safari park, and the biggest Ferris wheel in Vietnam. They call it the Sky Wheel, or Wheel of Time, and at 120 m tall (394 ft), it’s one of the largest in the world, with 60 cabins and almost 500 people in motion at one time. The fun never stops! Between the two is Corona Casino, the largest in Vietnam, and I did some research to find out long this massive multibillion dollar project has been going, and it’s been almost two decades! Some of the resorts and the sky tram (we’re going next week), opened in the first decade before 2010, and the massive amusement and tourism attractions have been growing since then.
The VinWonders looks to be an interesting day, and we’ll have that next.
