On Facebook we got over 200 reactions and almost 100 comments. We hope you get some insight here!
Five years ago , Feb 17, 2019, Kat and I left Southern Califiornia, and America, and flew to Valencia, Spain with a one way ticket. We had no plans to return, and would continue as long as we could, and as long as it was fun.
Here it is, 60 months, 6 continents, 42 countries, hundreds of cities, thousands of attractions, meals, and conversations later, and the beat goes on. Over the years we’ve taken tens of thousands of photos and video, posted many, and have met some awesome people and made what we consider to be “lifelong friends.” With just 1 large backpack and 3 smaller ones, we have learned to pack lightly, find the ideal travel windows to do it affordably, and settle where the weather is what we want. Most of the time…
I went back through some old YouTube videos to find some that I thought were cool, so let us know which ones you like! There are a lot more there! We are committed to sharing MORE videos, and will be adding some from our archives, so please subscribe to our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@TravelYounger.
- https://youtu.be/O0KdZXTDlQY Transfagarasan Highway, Romania, one of the best motorcycle roads in the world–which we did twice!
- https://youtu.be/G45eD-aFrzg In Cairo/ Giza we went inside the red pyramid, which was amazing! Many go into the main Giza Pyramid, but this one had no crowd and our own personal guide.
- https://youtu.be/F3voS28ds0g We spent 31 days in northern Greece, stayed in 15 different rooms, and explored places that most people do NOT visit. But should.
- https://youtu.be/06DjMz0DMqY Learning how to pack up our motorcycle for three months was a constant learning experience! And we did it two summers in a row with different bikes.
- https://youtu.be/6Sz-BfPF6WQ Ecuador blew my mind and I was overwhelmed with the Andes mountain. I was lucky enough to make a new friend and we explored for three days.
- https://youtu.be/xbrPCshSRiw Our first introduction to Asia was in Singapore on Jan 1, 2020…who knew what that year would bring! The city was empty and we went to the top of the amazing Marina Bay Sands hotel–the one with the ship on the top.
I have to give props to Kat who has ridden the past two summers on the back of our motorcycles, 88 days one year, 87 the next, and over 5000 miles through some knarly roads! A few months ago in Australia she had to squeeze her behind on a VERY narrow Ducati sports bike, deal with low 50 degree temps, wind, bugs, and less than quality coffee. No question we have learned to be flexible, adaptable, and (usually) patient, since so many things are beyond our control.
