Our day at the amusement park called VinWonders was a throwback to ages ago–when we were young. We didn’t visit every ride, but we caught the Ferris Wheel and spent awhile in the aquarium, which was one of the best I’ve ever been in. The city of Valencia (Spain) set a high mark for aquariums when we were there five years ago, but this one–inside a giant tortoise–had a lot of Asian fish and sea life and a cool exhibit of penguins, one of our highlights. Their display of jellyfish and other spineless creatures was light, but they made up for it in other ways.
Kat wanted to do the water park and I initially balked, but so glad we went! We felt like kids again and did several of them twice, and got bounced around many of them! Considering ONE admission price (about $30 bucks) covered all the lands, the wheel, the aquarium, and the roller coasters, it was a good deal.
On top of that, NO ride was crowded! Walked right up to the Wrath of Zeus coaster (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDRsNXiWscY), and got right in the front seat with no line. The view from the top of the ferris wheel was pretty incredible, and it is one of the tallest in the world at 160 meters. We were also able to see the BACK of the facades of some of the buildings that are yet to be built.
VinWonders is a work in progress, and has been open just a few years, and some of the “Lands” are better than others. Their Fantasy Land is focused on young kids, and is a weak example of imagination, as their Alice in Wonderland building is pretty un-wonderful. On the other hand, Typhoon World, their water park, was quite small, but had a lot of unique rides in a very tiny footprint. We lounged down the lazy river in tubes a few times, and hit the exciting ones, too. The Sea Shell, which is their name for the aquarium, had several different lands inside, plus gobs of tanks, and was ginormous!
Adventureland held the Wheel of Time and several other coasters and drops, and overall we hit the ones we wanted to see. I applaud the efforts of the developers of VinWonders, trying to combine so many different style parks in one large area. Between VinWonders and the Adjacent Grand World, you could spend several days there. Oh, they also have a Safari Land, which we did not get to.
If they build it, will they come? The crowds were light, but presumably will continue to grow year after year. Supposedly the park is profitable, which is a good sign, so we’ll take a look in 20 years and see how they’re doing
