No question about it, being a travel journalist DOES have some perks. After almost 6 years (coming up next month), I’ve made progress with publications, and now I write for some of the top names in the industry. But aside from the income, sometimes we get to stay in amazing places that we normally would NOT stay in, usually because of expense, and I write stories about them. We’ve walked over the Sydney Harbor bridge, stayed at an animal park in Canberra, and slept with giraffes outside our balcony, and recently we stayed in a five star resort—in a tent.
It’s called “glamping,” but the Arna resort on the island of Ceningan in Bali, was a whole new level. Opulent, beautiful bath, right on the cliff overlooking Blue Lagoon, it was truly an experience, especially our first night there when the torrential rain, lighting, and thunder made it even more special (if that’s the right word)! I wrote a story for Travel & Leisure magazine (my first), which goes into more detail, and I’ll post a link when it prints, but here’s some pictures to share.
