International Living magazine is one of the most informative and influential travel publications available for expats, or those looking to transition into “life on the road”. I have written several articles for them, both online, and hardcopy, and here are some of my more recent pieces:
Most of my writings are about travel specifically, and some include motorcycle touring. Others are about related subjects
Perceptive Travel was founded in 2006 and focuses on “personal stories” that involve travel, and that have many different meanings. They only publish three stories each month and each of these have a different spin.
Along with writing I have done for other travel sites, we have been featured in:
Croatia was one of our first long term visits and we loved it. I was able to get some stories published by media outlets there starting in 2019.

I never thought of myself as a “Digital Nomad,” but after spending two months in Croatia it seems I really was!
The city of Dubrovnik is amazing, almost like a Hollywood set. It can also be very crowded and very pricey. How long do you need to spend there? That is what I covered here.
In Croatia there are coffee shops everywhere! I interviewed one of the owners and he told me why…
From 2013 until we left in 2019, I wrote for the Newport Beach Independent newspaper, and my editor and friend, Chris Trela, has been kind enough to carry some of our experiences for the HomeTown Crowd.
I started writing for them when they launched in 2020 and have written more than a dozen articles since then. The magazine, with over 100K followers, focuses on the “older male” market, and even though they don’t have an official travel department, most of what I have written is about travel.
Albania is a place to consider if you are looking for a “long term” place to stay
What are the best ruins I have visited? Here’s my list and the reasons to visit
Trying to “control things” while traveling can be futile, and here are some things that went wrong along our journey…
From 2002 till 2008 I had a radio show and loved the format! Put a microphone in front of me and I’m a happy guy, and quite comfortable. Since we started our travels I have been interviewed dozens of times by different travel and media people, and here’s some recent ones that are fun.
My most significant writings were about our travels since I started my Travel Younger blog the day we left Los Angeles on February 17, 2019
When we started traveling I wrote two volumes called, “Traveling the World Six Weeks at a Time.” They are now cleaned up, updated to 2023, and re-released as, “Nomadic Life for All Ages.”
I revising anything/ everything that changed in the world and in the world of travel. I also included recaps with several fellow nomads that I interviewed over the years for, “Life on the Road: HOW they do it, WHY they do it.” That book, started in 2019, was put on hold during COVID, so these are the first time their stories have been shared.
These Are No Longer Available.
Big Blend Radio: COVIDStories was about worldwide “positive outcomes” from COVID and shares how the pandemic helped ME write fiction…
The COVID pandemic devasted the world and changed the face of travel. Since we had been on the road for over a year at that time, I got a bad case of “COVID boredom,” and Kat and I had many discussions about the “why” of the pandemic, and “what it all meant.” It was all speculative, of course, but my imagination was triggered, and for the first time I started writing fiction.
One book was about “Mother Nature,” and how COVID may have been a cruel joke, and another book came from a dream, a literal dream, about the Wizard of Oz and his baseball team, called The Marvels, and that was my first novella: The World Series of Oz, which is a fun read for baseball lovers of all ages. A chance meeting in Las Vegas with one of the top Elvis Presley impersonators, Harry Shahoian, turned into a joint effort to write his biography, called Follow That Dream, and later I wrote a three-part short story about “Alien Gifts,” about our teenage hero the gifts of invisibility, flight, and super speed, as three different year’s birthday presents.
As COVID was winding down I recognized that I had benefited in some weird, ironic way, so searched out OTHERS who had learned valuable lessons, so 19 of us collaborated on COVIDstories, which profiled some of the “good news” from the disease. Let’s just say it’s been a fun ride! You can view my other books here.
